AND LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!

Members from the Tennis Club of St. Croix, opened the Club to our guests and welcomed everyone to a feast of food and good times...thanks to everyone who came out tonight!   Friends grazed on a great variety of apps...while on the courts, players pounded away in their first round matches.  On court 3 we had newcomers to the tournament scene, Merlice Charles and Derrick Webster taking on seasoned vets Sherry Mansfield and Mike Petievich.  With a strong group of support cheering them on, our newcomers lost to the experienced duo, however, they played with smiles on their faces and tried their best.  They have all the potential there...Devon Peters is doing a great job with them.  We hope to see them again, and we do know that we will see Merlice in singles!  Mansfield/Petievich take the match 6-1, 6-0.  On Court 2, we saw new friends Pam and Larry Morris taking on Jerri Farrante and Andre Galiber.  First off, nice to Jerri come to the court with her skirt on correctly (what a change from LAST year!).  An entertaining match with deep returns with approaches with put aways at the net by Jerri, some amazing slice placements by Larry, acrobatic tennis moves (most of them...wait...ALL of them unnecessary) by Andre, and Pam taking on Andre with carefully placed shots out of the reach of Mr. Acrobat.  A fun match to watch, Jerri and Andre prevail with a score of 6-0, 6-4.  On court 1 we had Jr. Bannis and Trudy Fenster taking on Shane Dalton and Joan Warren.  Some big hitting tonight by the boys for sure...Trudy and Jr. take the match in straight sets. 

Inside the Club, Joanie hit the bar with her amazing specialty drinks...what awesome Cosmo's!!  Joanie totally takes over the bar...feeling pretty comfortable back there, don't you Joanie!?  ;)   The food was great and the party atmosphere apparent as everyone enjoyed the evening...and remember...we have 9 more nights of this!  Great to see everyone, meet new friends like Pam and Larry Morris, Merlice Charles and Derrick Webster, and Bartasius dem!  The Club was definitely the place to be tonight...thanks to all who attended.  Remember Chili Night tomorrow night and Wine and Cheese on Saturday.
