Tonight is LASAGNA NIGHT....$6.00!  See Sherry Mansfield at the bar/kitchen area!

THE THURSDAY NIGHT ROWDY GROUP!

Thursday night was off the hook....look at these crazies!

Thursday night MADNESS!

What is it about this annual event that brings out the fun...the friends...the beautiful weather...and the ROWDIES out ever year at this tennis event!  Tonight...the energy was electric with great matches and great times at the Club!

First off...kudos to Sherry Mansfield and yet another great inexpensive meal for spectators to enjoy.  Her pasta bake was a huge hit and was a sell out.  Can hardly wait for Friday night's LASAGNA NIGHT!

First off on Court 1 was the team of Robbie Stamper and Bill Bowles taking on the impromptu team of Nayan Bansal and Bob Guilford, who replaces Nayan's father Deepak, who abandoned his son at the eleventh hour.  Someone please call Child Protective Services.  With his lovely mother, Vivianna, in attendance a great match ensued.  Robbie and Bill put up a great first set but end up losing in a tiebreak.  Nayan and Bob take charge in the second set with as dramatic a final two points we have ever seen with Bob taking a tumble on the court and Nayan taking charge while his partner writhed in pain on the court, to take the match.  Nayan and Bob advance with a 7-6, 6-1 win!  Big thank you to Bob for picking up the match and allowing Nyan to play...great thanks to you!

Court 2 showdown were the Wednesday night Bumblebees Larry Morris and Stan/Carl/whatever Vanesse taking on Monty Mrotz and Morris Anselmi.  Riding high on their win from the night before, Larry and Stan played super aggressive (killer bees!), with Larry dare I say..."swarming" all over the net.  They take the match 6-0, 6-2.  Killer bees prevail...but we understand their next opponents are "Team RAID!"

Court 3 faced Joan Warren with the enthusiastic Cindy Clearwater.  Joan won the match 6-0, 6-0...the score was not indicative of a blow out by any means.  Many deuces ensued...but the more experienced Joan prevailed on the big points.  Great job by Cindy for entering her first big tournament and having a blast and being positive through this whole event!

Court 4 had Michael Armendariz and Carl Maschauer taking on Donovan Hamm and John Warren.  Now...Joan Warren had called Michael and pleaded with him to, "PLEASE don't hurt my husband!"  Well Michael and Carl wanted to have a urine sample taken on John because he stormed the net like a young man possessed.  Celebrating his birthday just the night before, Michael and Carl were temporarily caught off guard but composed their selves to blow out John's candles a second time.  Great to see a return to the court from Donovan Hamm and his great lefty game.  In a very fun match, Michael and Carl prevail 6-2, 6-1.

The US OPEN is well known for having amazing late night tennis matches every year.  Well...New York has NOTHING on St. Croix!  Three late night matches were scheduled and the players did NOT fail in their attempts to keep the crowd entertained.

In a rematch of last year, Alex Elizee wore out Carlos Rosas, 6-3, 6-2.  Running here and there, back and forth, to and fro...his movement was cat-like (much like Jay Craft *).  Carlos is know for his wheels as well but Alex was just too good.

Greeba Richmond and Natalie Nelson battled it out in Women's Singles...and what a battle it was.  Play started on time at 6:45 and ended after 10pm!  Greeba takes the first set, Natalie the second with Greeba finally prevailing in the third!  Natalie ran down ball after ball...Greeba and her compact strokes going crosscourt to crosscourt.  The last crosscourt finally did Natalie in.  What a great match and very entertaining to watch!  Congrats Greeba!

Trying to defend their title, Kurt Buska and Kris Elien took on the hot playing pair of Alexis Camarena and Junior Bannis.  On a continued high from their drumming of Jay and Steve earlier, Junior and Alexis came out swinging.  But...they were swinging against Kris.  Try they did, but Kurt and Kris take the first set 6-0.  A mini comeback ensues but they fall short and Kris and Kurt take the match with a 7-5 win in the second set.  Great match guys!

Now.  The match of the night.  The loudest match of the night.  The most tempestuous match of the night.  Joel Mahepath and Melbourne Adams took on Big Al Richards and Stan Myrie G.  A great match of crosscourt returns, drop shot, slices, dices, overheads...and lots and lot of groans.  And whining.  At one point Stan yelled so loud he lost his last name.  And the whining?  Well...never mind.  All kidding aside, this was the match of the night with the match going the distance to a third set tiebreak.  High quality play with three of these four players being in the finals just last year.  The match ended...at 11:05PM.  That's right...US OPEN has nothing  on Tennis Club of St. Croix!  The crowd was vocal in their support of the good and exciting play that they watched.

MAKE SURE AND COME OUT FRIDAY NIGHT!

Wild & Wacky Wednesday night!

FROM THE TENNIS CLUB SPORTS DESK
DATELINE: 10/17/2013
* Last Night's Matches-

* Zingers & Entreaties Rebuffed-
* Fun Facts-

The Tennis Club was at overflow capacity last night. The upper deck railing was shoulder to shoulder with dozens milling around behind trying to secure a view. The food was incredible… the bratwurst Man-wiches (the Sports Desk refuses to deem them mere “sausages on a roll”) drew audible gasps.  Great to see so many people out enjoying the company, the drinks, the foods...and yes... the tennis!

A quick tip of the Sports Desk’s fedora to Tournament Director Armendariz and the many Club volunteers who have worked tirelessly to make this a special event. The Sports Desk follows that gesture with a shot of Corn Whiskey out of respect and gratitude because it is the right thing to do.

Now onto last night’s matches…

We’ll begin with a heartwarming 6-0, 6-1 Woman’s B match. Norma Cruz and Barb Robbins took down Emma Miller and Cindy Clearwater much as expected. Cruz & Robbins will be a tough out in the tournament. But also of interest is the fact that this was the first time that Miller & Clearwater played in a tournament. It takes guts to get out there in front of friends and strangers and these gals acquitted themselves well. The victory celebration after winning a game off seasoned veterans in the second set was priceless.  We haven't seen dancing like that since Carlos decided to show off his dance skills in the Club house. The Sports Desk swipes someone’s half-consumed Manhattan off the bar and downs it in happy acknowledgement to small victories.

In the other Woman’s B match of the evening, Sharon Quinn and Brenda Sinfield beat Pat Worede and Greeba Richmond 6-4, 6-2.  Pat and Sharon at the net, Greeba and Brenda from the baseline.  Greeba, visiting from St. John, had not dropped a single game in any of her previous matches, but she and Pat came face to face with a strong team.  A solid result for Quinn and Sinfield who seem to be peaking at the right time.

In Men’s B Singles, newcomer Elmer Alquiero beats Hakeem Logie, 6-4, 6-4. Logie was flying all over the court and is an imposing figure out there, not unlike the sum total of the Sports Desk’s many unpaid bar tabs around island. But facing a guy that looks like LeBron James with a tennis racquet in hand couldn’t unnerve the unflappable Mr. Alquiero. Time and time again, Alquiero successfully passed or lobbed the hard-charging Logie in a tight contest.  Congrats, Elmer the newcomer!

In Mens A Doubles, Junior Bannis and Alexis Camarena defeat Jay Craft and Steve Wagner 6-3, 6-2. The big lefty shot-makers played nearly flawless tennis. They will be a handful in this tournament if they keep up that level of play. This was Wagner’s first tournament on island and similar to the first time the Sports Desk saw then rookie Stan Musial walk out on a bar tab, it has the collective feeling that this player is something special.

Another Men's A doubles match was Jason Miller and Julian DiPersio outlasting Alec Kuipers and Jordan Lawrence 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. The quality on display was incredibly high all the way through, somewhat like the Sports Desk’s columns back in the Eisenhower Administration when it actually gave a collective damn. The future of St Croix tennis was on display last night and the juniors put on quite a show. Shots seen: DiPersio’s swinging half-volley backhand behind the baseline down the line for a clean winner; Lawrence turning on a big forehand return from DiPersio and ripping it around the post for a point; Kuipers taking five monster shots from Miller further and further off the court and lashing them all back, eventually forcing an error. But the story of the night wasn’t the junior players—rather, it could be found in old man Miller’s redemption after his crushing singles loss to Kuipers earlier in the week. Miller elevated his play in a tough three-setter and came through big on many clutch points. Afterwards, he collapsed into a disgusting, sweaty heap on the Club porch and may need a Heineken IV to make it to the next match.  Actually, Miller is always a disgusting sweaty heap but he deserves a Heineken after withstanding the abuse of the juniors.  So you might buy him a beer sometime.  Just keep a towel handy.

What ended up being the match of the night was the Men’s 50 and over battle with Larry Morris and Stan Vanesse beating Dominique Durand and Bill Bowles 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. This was a highly entertaining match that could have easily gone either way.  The late night crowd was energized by the gutsy performance by Bill and Dominique.  Always forcing Team Bumblebee (their moniker for the evening) to hit JUST ONE MORE BALL, Bill and Dominique drew out each point with retrieval after retrieval.  After dropping the second set the crowd was wondering if Morris/Vanesse were honeybees or killer bees.  But they came back in a spirited third set.  The crowd was loud...and I do mean LOUD with screams and cheers coming after each and every point.   A gutty performance by Morris & Vanesse against a talented team.  Kudos as well to both these team who double entered in Men's 50 and Men's B Doubles.  We bet Jason Miller couldn't do that.

Zingers & Entreaties Rebuffed!

The Set-up: Infamous Club villain and general island heel, Jay Craft, has been trying to reconcile with his estranged mixed doubles partner, Sherry Mansfield, ever since their devastating loss on Saturday night. The unsinkable Ms. Mansfield has bounced back nicely despite Craft’s brutal on-court manners.
The Zinger: Craft, in his usual boorish manner, was tearing down other players’ choice of outfits when Mansfield swanned around a younger, more talented, and better looking version of Craft (let’s call him Alexis C. who by coincidence had crushed Craft minutes earlier in straight sets). When Craft asked Mansfield, “Baby, what are you doing here with HIM?” she calmly replied, “I only hang out with winners!”.  While the Sports Desk has been collectively divorced a total of eight times, it can’t remember hearing a more apt put-down.
The Aftermath: A chastened Craft retreated to the bar where he made clumsy mixed doubles partnership offers, all of which were sensibly rejected out of hand. Even the usually non-judgmental Kenny refused to look at him.

Fun Facts!

1.       Jason Miller was older than the combined age of the other three players in his doubles match.

2.  "Does Dominique EVER stop talking?"  "No", replied a very quiet MRS. DURAND.

3.      "Mm, I love scotch. I love scotch. Scotchy, scotch, scotch. Here it goes down. Down into my belly. Mm-mm-mm” The Sports Desk opines that this Ron Burgundy quote is in fact, a fact.

SEE EVERYONE TONIGHT!  THINGS ARE HEATING UP AT THE TENNIS CLUB OF ST. CROIX!

Tuesday results....awwww!

Whoever is doing the "no rain dance"...we thank you!  And those of you who are keeping Carlos Rosas from seeing this "no rain dance" request...WE LOVE YOU!  Another beautiful night under the stars at the Club!

Natalie Nelson and Gabrielle Armstrong used their tournament experience to defeat newcomer team Leslie Maschauer and Pam Morris.  Spirited in their play, with Pam running down shot after shot and Leslie doing a great job at the net...the other team proved to be just too strong and take the match by a score of 6-1, 6-2.

Next up we see Pat Worede and our new friend from St. John, Greeba Richmond taking on Adrienne Seward and Juana Bowles.  Visiting from St. John, we have nicknamed Greeba "Stingy" as she has not allowed a single game in her first two matches.  Today, "Stingy" and Pat won 6-0, 6-0.  Again...the score was not indicative of play...its just those key points!

In men's B singles, we see Robbie Stamper taking on Nyan Bansal.  Seems every year, Robbie takes on a junior and automatically becomes the bad guy.  After a particularly aggressive overhead by Robbie, the peanut gallery responds with "Bully!", "he is JUST a kid!"  Robbie replies, "Oh yeah?!  Well this kid is whipping me 0-4!!"  Robbie comes back with a vengeance and ties up the first set to 4 all...but Nyan comes back and takes the first set 6-4.  Continuing with some smart play and perhaps maybe just a "tiny" bit of coaching...Nyan comes back strong and takes the match with a final set of 6-3.  All smiles...it was a pleasure to watch Robbie support these juniors.  Good job Nyan!

In a highly anticipated match in Women's B Doubles...comeback kid Angie Klein and the ever steady Sue Gibbons take on the #1 seeded team of Deb "Ironwoman" Schreiber and Flo "even steadier" Logan.  Great crosscourt rallies, poaches, overheads, and great topspin lob placements, these ladies battled it out between the laughter in a very enjoyable match to watch.  The #1 team holds seed and wins in a close score of 6-4, 6-4.

The fun was off the court as well as Bar Vixen Joanie prepared more specialty drinks tonight to serve up with some INCREDIBLE CHILI prepared by Kim D'Eramo.  The chili was a sell out with turkey taco chili and sweet potato veggie chile being served up.  Thank you, Kim!

Food nights continue during the rest of the week with specialty inexpensive meals served up by Sherry Mansfield.  We see sausage, onions, and peppers served up on a roll, grilled chicken caeser salads, and lasagna on the menue over the next several day!  Keep checking the blog for more information.

Thanks to Joanie, Sharon, Toni, and Cindy for constantly helping out!

Monday night shenanigans...

FROM THE TENNIS CLUB SPORTS DESK
DATELINE: 10/15/2013
* Last Night's Matches-
* Overheard / Confirmed-
The Sports Desk is in (rare) agreement this morning: yesterday was a fantastic night for tennis at the Club! Cooler weather, no bugs, great tennis and good friends.

In Mens B Singles, Logie bested Mrotz 6-4, 7-6 (3). Logie played controlled tennis against a fast riser in Mrotz. The match was as close as the score indicates.

Womens B Singles:  Richmond defeats Seward.  6-0, 6-0.  The score was hardly indicative of the match. LOTS of deuce games but Richmond won all the key points.  Visiting from St. John for the month...we welcome Greeba, who called looking around to play some tennis and ended up entering in three events!  :)

Womens B Doubles:  Angie Klein and Sue Gibbons defeated Joan Warren and Lisa Adams,  6-1, 6-2.  This was Angie's first tournament in years. The Sports Desk raises its collective tumbler of Scotch and winks, "There you are, kid... welcome back".  Angie and Sue play again on Tuesday night against the #1 seeded team of Flo Logan and Deb Schreiber.  Something tells us this will be the match of the night.

Mens A Singles:  Alex Elizee defeats Zach Armstrong by default. We are reminded of the Woody Allen quote about 90% of success is just showing up. The Sports Desk nods its collective, world-weary head in agreement, knowing this is probably the only reason it is employed.
Mens A Singles: Alec Kuipers defeats Jason Miller 6-2, 3-0 retired. It generally takes something exceptional to raise the collective head of the Sports Desk out of the plagiarizing other writers' work, but the Miller/Kuipers match did just that. Miller was serving his usual high-velocity bombs. Young Mr. Kuipers had absolutely no problem returning one of the best serves on island. Miller on several occasions ripped balls into the corner but Kuipers chased it down and fired it right back. In short, Kuipers had a reply for every great shot that Miller could muster. The long rallies eventually got the best of Miller whose legs locked up in the second set as surely as the Sports Desk's fading Underwood Standard Champion manual typewriter.

The Sports Desk rifled through its pile of massively disorganized notes and found that Miller has been training with Kuipers now for a couple of years. So in some small way, Miller helped to create the monster that dismantled him so elegantly on Monday night. The Sports Desk seldom takes sides unless discretely paid to do so, but success couldn't happen to a better young man.

Mens A Singles: Junior Bannis defeats Alexis Camarena 6-0, 3-6, 6-0. Is there anyone playing better tennis on island right now than Mr. Bannis? The Sports Desk dramatically lights a cork-tipped, Pall Mall cigarette and shrugs, "maybe not". This was a heavyweight slug-fest with two great shot-makers pounding clean winners from any position on the court. A very entertaining match indeed.

CONFIRMED! The Sports Desk has learned that the rumors are true: there is a three-figure wager on a certain player in the Mens A Singles draw to win and after last night's results, that bet is still live. The Sports Desk actively encourages degenerate wagering on pretty much any event.   This news is shameful...just shameful.
OVERHEARD! The Sports Desk has been privy to certain backroom dealings, intrigues, bribery, double-crosses, and shenanigans involving numerous Mens A players looking to lock up the services of the supremely talented Mesdames Laugle and Ward in future Mixed A events. So unethical and overheated has the jockeying become that the Legal Desk (whom the Sports Desk has just about had enough of with its fancy degrees and big words) issued two words of advice for Laugle and Ward: RESTRAINING ORDER.  Club President and attorney, Carl Beckstedt, at your service.

First week thoughts...

1.  We think we finally found someone who analyzes their shots after the point more than Susan Armstrong.  That award goes to Dominick Durand.  Hands down.

2.  We have never heard so LITTLE...from Jay Craft when he was serving.  Quite frankly...his fans were disappointed.

3.  After years of playing at the Club...no one still has a clue what Carlos Rosas is saying.

4.  On #3...do we care?

5.  After taking 8 weeks off due to a shoulder injury...Flavia Logie has returned with a new fire.  Maybe she should take more time off...her game was great.

6.  Marthia Herrelle is the woman most women want to be at her age.  The woman is amazing.

7.  If anyone has an hour to kill...ask Barbara Robbins how she played during her last match.

8.  A lot of players have potty mouths.  You know who you are.  Some more than others.

9.  Tennis players drink a lot of beer.  So do tennis spectators.  Thanks to Bellows International for our Heineken, Heineken Light and Amstel Light!

10.  Bar Vixen Joanie...has no business ever leaving from behind that bar.  EVER.

The first WINNERS!

CONGRATS TO CAROLINE WARD AND CARLOS ROSAS, DEBBIE WOODSON AND MICHAEL ARMENDARIZ.  OUR FIRST HEINEKEN ST. CROIX OPEN WINNERS!

Sunday Mixed Finals!

The first winners were determined on Sunday with both matches going the distance in third set tie breaks!  Spectators fill the new upstairs "box seats" (look pretty cool, huh?!) along with News TV 2 to document play (thanks for the exposure!).

Mixed A finals paired up with the welcomed newcomer, Caroline Ward and Carlos Rosas who came in seeded #2.  Everyone was wondering how this match up would work out because...well...lets face it...she is a newcomer...does she REALLY KNOW CARLOS?!  Nataki Finch Richards teamed up with Junior Bannis and were the #1 seeds.  Both teams came out swinging with great serving from everyone...Caroline and Carlos take the first set 6-3.

Nataki and Jr. came back and take the second set 6-4 setting up the third set.  Teams pretty much stayed on serve or returned the breaks...setting up the tiebreak....which was won by Caroline and Carlos.  Great playing by everyone and we all welcome Caroline back to the throngs of tennis players here on St. Croix.  We have a feeling we will be seeing much more of her!  Congrats!

Mixed B finalist were the #1 seeded duo of Debbie Woodson and Michael Armendariz who took on the spirited team of Patsy Knight and Dominick Durand, who scored the big upset the night before of the #2 seeded team of Sherry Mansfield and Jay Craft in a tough 3 set, 2.5 hour marathon.

Debbie and Michael came out swinging but were surprised by the resilient pair.  They take the first set 7-5.  Holding serve until the very end, Debbie gets broken and Dominick holds serve to take the second set 6-4 to set up the deciding third set.  Third set is a series of holds and two consecutive breaks.  Finally serving for the set at 5-4, Dominick gets pounded by three big returns of serve, losing his serve. 5-5.  Two more holds and the tie-break starts.  Wanting bad to defend their title, Debbie and Michael play strong and smart and take the deciding tiebreak to take the match!

Great fun for the crowd and two well played sets.  Congrats to both winners.  We will see more off all these players again next week!

Friday night results...and stuff

Three matches tonight...as a precursor to TACO NIGHT...results for the night:

First to complete:  In a match of two best dressed teams...Debbie Woodson and Michael Armendariz took on Team Bazinga, Sue Gibbons and Jake Hikel.  A lot of history going on with this team...but Team Bazinga met up with Team Bazooka.  Cross court to cross court exchanges with Sue and Debbie with Michael poaching at the net.  "Lefty" Jake confused Debbie for a bit but Bazooka prevailed with a win of 6-1, 6-2.

Next to finish...Flavia "Cougar" Logie with Boy Toy Alex Elizee take on the ever sassy Marcia O'Neale and Alexis "where are my keys?!" Camarena.  Flavia take the first set 6-2 and are up in the second set, but Marcia and Alexis storm back to tie it up at 4-4.  Flavia and Alex take charge at the net and  take the second set 7-5.  "There is NO WAY we were gonna surrender the set", said Flavia after the match.  Alexis said, "What?!"

A three set battle between Barb Robbins and Marcel Galiber and Sharon Quinn and Larry Kupfer ensued where the players not only had to battle each other, but the boisterous antics of the peanut gallery in the upstairs galley.  Barb and Marcel prevail in the third to set up a showdown between Debbie and Michael...who say...BRING IT ON!

TACO NIGHT WAS A BIG HIT...THANK YOU SHERRY!

SEE YOU ALL IN THE MORNING AND AFTERNOON FOR MORE MATCHES!

Weekend draw and schedule!

Don't forget tonight is TACO NIGHT and Margaritas.  Saturday night is Baked Potato bar.  And Sunday is lasagna!  All for $6 bucks!

Thursday 10 October 2013

Tuesday/Wednesday results!

Well...first of all thanks to all of those who did the "no rain" dance because all Tuesday and Wednesday matches were completed...and not a drop of rain on the courts!

First up this morning was the postponed match of Joanie Kupfer and Stan Vanesse vs. Loriann Laugle and Anthony Irvin.  Playing early this morning Loriann and Anthony prevailed with a score of 6-2, 6-0.

Making up matches this afternoon were:  Barbara Robbins and Marcel Galiber who Greeba Richmond and Monty Mrotz by a score of 6-0, 6-1.

Larry Kupfer and Sharon Quinn took on Maschauer dem (Leslie and Carl).  Congrats to Leslie on her first tournament.  Larry and Sharon win 6-3, 6-3.  Leslie did great and stayed in points many times only to have her hubby blow the point.  Yes...we said that.  ;)

Patsy Knight and Dominick Durand prevailed over Bill and Juanna Bowles 6-2, 6-0.  The steady play of Flo Logan and Carl Beckstedt gave the the win over Laurie Legrand and Phil Holzman.

Geez...did we see (we definitely HEARD!) Barbara Robbins and Marcel Galiber again?!  Playing in both A and B, the gave it a great try but ended up losing A category to Joan Warren and Jerry Adames with the winners taking it 6-2, 7-5.  Nice try!

Taking a win in THREE SETS were Sue Gibbons and Jake Hikel taking on the spirited team of Pam and Larry Morris.  Sue and Jake REALLY worked for this win for reasons to be noted later...their scores 7-5, 3-6, 7-5.

Last but not least...Lee Rohn and Kevin Motta take on Marthia Herrelle and Dan Lawrence.  The ever inspirational and sexy Marthia served great and take the first set 7-5.  Lee and Kevin roar back and take the second set 3-6.  Lee, having to leave on island on Saturday and would be unable to play in the event the won the deciding third set, graciously retired the match.  Very gracious and classy...thank you Lee and Kevin.

See you all tomorrow!!!

Wednesday 9 October 2013

2013 Heineken Rules of play

In an order to make things run smoothly and without pissing off your tournament director please do the following:

1.  Please be on time.  Match play BEGINS at the posted time.  This doesn't mean to show up at the match time and expect to warm up and then play.  Please try your best to be early so as to start matches on time.

2.  You entered a tournament to play tennis.  We will try to work with any schedule conflicts you might have...that's why we ask you to list any conflicts you may have on the entry form.  If you didn't post it and then complain about a time you are playing, you run the risk of Michael pulling your hair.

3.  USE THE TENNIS SCOREBOARDS PROVIDED ON THE COURT!  Don't you find it annoying when spectators yell at you, "what is the score?!"  Then used the tennis scoreboards that are attached on each court!  Thank you!

4.  Support our sponsor, Bellows International, and purchase $3 Heineken, Heineken Light, Amstel Light, and Captain Morgan rum drinks!

"You can always count on a full cistern during a tournament"

Those were the mighty words of tennis wizard, Les Kelley.  And man was he right!

With ominous clouds looming all around the Club, an attempt was made to play but "de rain come" and play was suspended.  Lets hope for a dry Thursday in order to get our schedule back on track.

Only one match was completed.  #2 seeds Caroline Ward and Carlos Rosas defeated Gabrielle Armstrong and Jason Miller, 6-2, 6-1 in Mixed A Doubles.

All tonight's matches will be played tomorrow, either prior to, or after the already scheduled 5:30 matches.  To be continued are:

Kupfer/Vanesse vs. Laugle/Irvin playing at 8am.  Robbins/Galiber vs. Richmond/Mrotz playing at 4pm.  And Kupfer/Quinn vs. Maschauer dem and Gibbons/Hikel vs. Morris dem will be played after the Thursday 5:30 matches.  Regular 5:30 matches for Thursday already posted are:

Herrelle/Lawrence vs. Rohn/Motta
Robbins/Galiber vs. Warren/Adames

Please do a no rain dance...PLEASE.  And also please hope that Carlos Rosas doesn't read this rain dance request.
